Builder’s Blog – Lessons from Nehemiah

Nehemiah 9
Walking in Truth
1-4      The people confess sins & begin to worship
5-15    Acknowledgement of God’s working
16-31  Acknowledgement of the peoples’ sins & the compassion of God
32-38  Acknowledgement that God is just; allowing hardship to turn to committment
Truth is so important.  This chapter is so very healthy in that they embraced the truth & confessed sins to God.  Confession simply means to agree with God.  It is easy for us to focus on our hardships and feel like victims.  It is also easy to blame God for our own shortcomings.  But the people in this chapter faced the truth straight on & then went on to full repentance.  Isn’t that really what God wants from us?  He is merciful & ready to pardon, in order to work in us the good character of His Son, Jesus Christ.
Whenever I begin to feel like a victim, I will acknowledge God’s faithfulness and turn my attitude to praise and worship.
Verse 3 –>
“While they stood in their place, they read from the book of the law of the Lord their God for a fourth of the day; and for another fourth they confessed and worshiped the Lord their God.”
